The AFC is in for a very big shock. Berbicians have expressed anger at the AFC whiz is no longer trusted. There is MISTRUST of the AFC which is now seen as a branch of the PNC.
A vote for the AFC = A vote for the PNC.
The PYO has been working extremely to get out the votes and he response has been tremendous. The PPP is playing their cards right this time around in Berbice.
I await the election results. In fact I am excited based on the sampling results from Berbice.
Bring it on !

Promise to rebuild East Bank Berbice road not kept
Dear Editor,
It was reported in the Independent private media on May 5th, 2013 at the Albion Sport Complex that âPresident rallies supporters against opposition.â Well that rallying is most welcomed; only if it was backed with substance rather than subterfuge, deceit, propaganda, distortions and untruths? Last year President Ramotar promised the residents of East Bank Berbice that the road will be built by the time he returns in May 2013 to celebrate the Indian Arrival Day. One year later not even a pebble has been laid. But as Dem Boys seh, âDonald ainât no fool. He avoid dem people [from East Bank Berbice] and go to Albion instead.â Now he is talking all this froth but the people want the substance. His statement that an AFC/APNU government would ban peas, potato and dhal; mostly East Indian dishes is nothing but hogwash.
Do the people think that with a political leadership in Guyana like a President Moses Nagamootoo and a Senior Vice President and Prime Minister like Nigel Hughes, we will have âfood shortagesâ again in Guyana? Never! What nonsense is coming out this manâs mouth? Hughes who is down in the Rupununi savannah fighting for the rights of our Amerindian brothers and sisters will not support any type of food shortages? Nagamootoo is the champion in Parliament fighting for the people especially the poor and the working class against the unconscionable and uncaring PPP Ministers and he will bring food shortages to the people? If horses can fly; then it is time to listen to President Ramotar.
Why is the President so cowardly to only flounce on stage like a âbundarieâ with empty sound bites and not getting down to the real business of calling the elections? If he is so certain of the East Indians support then he should not hesitate and call the elections immediately? But he knows that the East Indians are not going to support his corrupt regime and despite what he and the PPP cabal think, East Indians are not stupid or docile people who will willingly listen to anyone especially one who has done very little for them in the sugar and rice industries. Actually the President is one of the principle architects who âbruk-upâ the sugar industry and who wasted US $200 million of the taxpayersâ money on that white elephant sugar factory at Skeldon.

Listen, the people will cast their votes and we will respect the results. That's how life works. It all bout free choice.
The USA respected the results of the election when Al Gore lost the presidential elections. Many were angry but that is how a democratic nation works.
The PNC ruled Guyana illegally for 28 years.
Toll charges by Berbice Bridge Company Inc. âĶRedirecting marine traffic to retractor span unconstitutional- Ramjattan.
Ramjattan charge that the toll must come down
Alliance For Change Chairman, Khemraj Ramjattan, has described as unconstitutional, moves by
the Berbice Bridge Company Inc. to redirect marine traffic from crossing under the structureâs high span to the retractor span for a fee.
Ramjattan is convinced that the bridge management implemented this new order to increase revenue by extracting monies from boat operators, who would have otherwise utilized the Berbice River without a fee.
Several weeks ago, boat operators complained that the bridge management imposed an order that laden vessels, which cross under the high span free of cost, must desist from doing so. Instead, they must now cross whenever there is a retraction. And there is a fee attached.
Vessels with foreign registration are charged $55,000 for in-bound pass and another $55,000 for out-bound. Locally registered vessels pay a fee of $28,000 for a one-way .
Ramjattan charge that the toll on the Bridge must come down.

Berbicians are waiting to ask Nigel a few questions that the Executive of the AFC are scared to ASK:
[www.inewsguyana.com] â The governing Peopleâs Progressive Party (PPP) is calling for the resignation of Chairman of the minority opposition party _ the Alliance For Change (AFC) â Nigel Hughes, following the recent disclosure relating to the land being occupied by Maeâs Secondary School.
In a statement issued to the press on Sunday, February 9, the PPP said,âThese allegations must not be taken lightly, and are to say the least, troubling and worrying to the public at large. The PPP is also appalled by the deafening silence of the Executive of the Alliance for Change on the continuous reports that its Chairman is involved in various forms of fraudulent activities, misconduct and improprieties.â
According to the PPP, âIt is shameful, but telling that the AFC which preaches about good governance and accountability is failing miserably to reign in Hughes despite the scandals in which he is finding himself. The fact that these allegations continue to be made is cause for concern about the integrity of the Attorney at Law and his ethical standards, not only in the political realm, but when doing business.
âApart from the allegations that he sold a property to a popular city school despite taking out a mortgage which he failed to pay, and the ongoing litigation on the matter, Hughes was involved in several other scandals.â
The Party recalled theallegations of conflict of interest when it was revealed that Hughes and his wife Cathy were in the employ of Sithe Global, the company which developed the Amaila Falls Hydro Project which the AFC rejected.
âHughes was also embroiled in another controversy surrounding his deliberate failure to disclose his relationship with the jury foreman in the Lusignan massacre trial whilst representing one of the accused.â
The PPP noted that they are aware of Hughes links to criminal elements and the underground.
âThe party is aware of his links to prominent drug lords and criminals of this ilk and his bare faced representation of their interests in the courts when litigation is brought against them. The party recalls his involvement in the removal of footage from the gas station where a citizen was gunned down at Buxton.â
Hughes is currently engaged in a court battle in which the owner of Maeâs School, Mayfield French is alleging that he sold her a property despite taking out a mortgage which he failed to repay. Some 300 students are at risk as a result of the court battle
It is baffling that a party that preaches accountability, honesty and transparency still has Nigel as Chairman. Looks like the Executive committee of the AFC is afraid to bell the cat.

what this got to do with the bread and butter issues in Corentyne again!!!
There goes the idiot yugi again with the same old repetition.
A VOTE FOR THE PPP is a VOTE for backwardness and GREED.
Them communist in the PPP do not know GOD.
They do not understand:
Growing up in a Hindu home, there was never any doubt about oneâs attitude to acquiring wealth. It was right up there as one of the four fundamental âdrivesâ of life â sensuous desires (kaam), material wealth and social status (artha), which were, however, to be pursued within a righteous life (dharma), and if successful would lead to liberation from this cycle of birth and death (moksha).
Apart from the pandit expounding this lesson in various lectures in the Mandir or in any one of the several religious functions that dot the Hindu calendar, it was driven home every day right in the home. The wealth was to be acquired through hard work and nothing was to deter one from this pursuit.

Ramotar needs to define his own vision
The second anniversary of the swearing-in of President Donald Ramotar passed almost unnoticed earlier this week. Indeed there was not even an acknowledgment of the anniversary from the President himself who was present and spoke at one major national event. The Constitution of Guyana allows for presidential elections every five years and re-election only once after. President Ramotar is in now in his third year of a first term. Even one of the most fervent supporters of the PPP/C, pollster Vishnu Bisram, has been sounding fears that the PPP/C can lose the plurality and therefore President Ramotar may not enjoy a second term, assuming that he would wish re-election at the next elections, whenever they are called. This paper does not wish to engage in such speculation at this stage; there are far too many variables that would require extensive analysis. What we wish to do is examine the Ramotar Presidency to date and how it has defined the man himself, and as a precursor of his legacy, whenever that time comes. The fairest way of doing so is to assess him by the standards and promises which he and his PPP/C promised in the 2011 Manifesto. The next PPP/Civic Government, the manifesto boasted, aims to achieve a modern Guyana, where rights and freedoms are enhanced, where individual and national wellbeing is secured. In reality, security for everyone one, whether in the home or on the streets, has deteriorated, as has the judicial system to the extent that a man is caught on camera shooting at another and walks free. Too many of our youths, products of a dysfunctional social and educational system, are being killed in highly questionable circumstances; too many guns are at large, a consequence of a corrupt licensing system and the suspected smuggling of guns into the country. We were promised a nation that is united in spirit and in purpose, and a nation whose long heralded potential is fulfilled.Instead the wishes of the electorate have been translated into gridlock where nothing gets done and stalemate is the order of the day. The Constitution whose continuing flaws were so grimly exposed by Ramotarâs malevolent predecessor remains untouched and continues to be violated, albeit in a less vulgar manner. The Manifesto promised to âensure, within one year of the 2011 general elections, that local government elections are held.â Two years on, this fundamental value of the Constitution, remains as elusive as ever. We are left with many of the local organs of democracy without a functioning governing body, even as the capital city wallows in filth. Fortunately, the economy has remained buoyant, helped in no small measure by high gold prices and the Petrocaribe Agreement with Venezuela. Our exchange rate has remained stable and the rate of inflation modest. But the spectre of blacklisting of the country for its failure to have internationally approved money-laundering prevention legislation hangs like a darkening shadow over the immediate future of the country. But perhaps President Ramotarâs biggest failure was to embrace, blindly, the prestige projects of Jagdeo which were conceived to enrich the few at the expense of the rest of the people. The demise of the disastrous Amaila Falls Hydroelectricity Project was sealed by an act of God after the deception of the Privatisation Unit. The NIS is another fiasco which no amount of band aid will cure. Instead of putting money into the education system, the Administration sold the very profitable shares in GT&T to invest in a Casino and Hotel with a private partner whose identity has yet not been disclosed. This newspaper does not believe that Mr. Ramotarâs presidency is doomed. He can redeem himself if he acts and acts decisively. We remind him of the words he used at his inauguration when he said that it was now time to âcast aside the partisan cloakâ and âput on national garbâ. He âinvited Guyanese from all our political parties and all or civic and religious groupsâ to engage in the further development of the country over the next five years. He needs to start by defining and articulating his own vision for Guyana, not Jagdeoâs. He needs to embrace an economic policy for the country as a whole not the few plutocrats. He needs to deal with the corruption within his own party and government rather than hurl abuse at those who point out corruption. He needs to surround himself with persons of integrity and competence, not sycophants. And he needs to start now.
HOW can I as an East Indian vote for a political force that does this to my people?
As a Hindu who did not vote in the last elections out of disgust at the mass corruption and discrimination against Hindus by the Jagdeo regime, I firmly believe that Mr Jagdeo is not competent to lecture on any subject as a result of the way he lives his life; worst of all on the topic of racism when my relative suffered personally from discrimination during his period of office.
It is my family who were sold a mud lot (they call it a house lot) in the mud of Good Hope Phase 3 at a premium price, but with no road, no light and no water. It is my family, all East Indians, who during the rainy season have to walk out to the front of Good Hope in long boots and then clean the mud off their feet, put their socks and shoes on and go to school and work.
However, when he was building his fortress, before even a spade was turned, the government found the resources to complete the roads, the drains, run the water lines and electricity. The Pradoville group got all of this although they all purchased their developed land at a deep, deep discount. That is plain and simple discrimination against my family who are all East Indians. Did the PNC do this to my family? No, this was done by the Jagdeo PPP regime.
I have another cousin who works at GuySuCo for $57,000 per month with three children. His wife has to plant every available spot in their small yard and rear chickens, and he has to catch fish when he can, to be able to feed his family.
Conscience NEVER again.

With all the anti-PPP sentiments, it would be wise for the AFC and APNU to put their political aspirations aside and endorse a charismatic leader(doan have to be a career politician) who can harness and garner the support of the masses-amerinds, afroes, indoes and the mixed races.
