This behaviour was perpetuated by the Colonialists . Many schools were run by the church, that's why you had to recite the Lord's prayer. Nursing was controlled by the Red Cross , there again another arm of the Church. The idea that Indians had no Christian names, was to their detriment.
Today , many Indian give their children Christian names, just to get ahead.
As for the Police force, it became a family affair and as time went by political. So just having an Indian name does not allow you certain occupation.
In the PNC era your daughter had to sleep with the Black boss to get a job, or to get promoted.

Lots of undeniable truth here but we have to move on. I experienced racism and discrimination in Guyana under PNC and thats why I don't like them.
We all need to bury the hatchet and move on. We have become millionaires and a few close to a billion. In the end, many of us made the correct choice to leave.
PNC is still stuck in the Burnham era and Lucifer Granger is still living with a Burnham mentality. They ran a purely race based campaign and lost !

The South part of India has the highest literacy rates and the center of India IT industry. Most Indians agree it’s due to the proliferation of Christian schools and support networks administered by the church.
