Attempted murder suspect on the lam
Police say the man accused of breaking into his estranged wife’s home and setting it on fire is still at large.
Langley RCMP say the 44-year-old man went into the home on Wakefield Drive near 200th Street and started a fire before going into his wife’s bedroom and struck her in the head multiple times with an unknown weapon.
The suspect’s 14-year-old daughter was also allegedly assaulted while trying to protect her mother. An eight-year-old boy in the home was not injured.
The woman and her children were able to escape the home and were found by authorities at a neighbour's house.
The children were sent to Royal Columbian Hospital and the woman was taken to Langley Memorial Hospital. All were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Cpl. Holly Marks said the suspect may have fled in a 2006 Saturn Relay with the license plate number 804 HWC.
The suspect, a Langley resident, is known to police for previous violent domestic incidents.
Cpl. Marks says the case is being treated as attempted murder and the investigation is ongoing.
