Firing of people left right and center .One mouth man say treasury broke ,statement from Bank of Guyana say otherwise.

The PPP inherited all those things from the PNC. The treasury was already empty when the PPP took over. Covid-19 in on the increase because of the BLM movement in Guyana.

The same thing about flooding was said when the APNU took over from the PPP in 2015. Hopefully, with the oil money they might rebuild the sea defence and prevent flooding. Recently, during the last government, Berbice had floods that killed poultry and destroyed large quantity of rice.

LOL ,try again Uncle Rama.

Why? you said it not me. The treasury is empty.  Covid-19 was there before the PPP took over.  If Jagdeo didn't give the face masks to the villages then more blacks would have died. This is a lame excuse for a guy who claims to be intelligent. Whom would you blame for the Coalition movement not doing anything for the last 5 1/2 years.? We cannot fix all of the Coalition's problems in just 2 weeks. Again, Administrator, Are you that stupid? Don't threaten to suspend me, just answer the question.

Rama, how does the virus 'increase because of the BLM movement in Guyana' ?  What are they doing, or not doing to cause the increase ?

They were all marching together in the Villages when they were directed to do so without paying attention to social distancing.  I thought at the time that it was stupid, now I know that It was.

I know that you want to tell me off again. what stopped you?

No treasury is empty ,that's false ,BOG Statement was posted here on a thread.

COVID-19 increased because precaution are not adhered to ,they think the virus is like a flu.

Regarding your last paragraph ,no need to call any one stupid ,stick to the topic ,shows arrogance.

I never that anyone is stupid, I meant that they behave as if they are stupid. There is a difference.

Thanks for being civil.  Every day is different.  The PPP is doing things differently each day.  They are focusing on the development of the country with special emphasis on manufacturing, tourism, businesses, Education, and Health.  The Public works department will create 50,000 new jobs.

I know secretly you are proud of your brothers in the PPP.

True, some are doing a good job, while we wait to see if others will perform better than the last time and care more for the people who voted for them.

Flooding will always occur in Guyana and in other countries bordered by the oceans and seaways. Those occurrences can be seen in US_of_A, Canada, England, Europe, Africa, etc., etc., etc..

Specific to Guyana ....

1. Guyana's coast-land is about five -5- feet below sea level.

2. Guyana's coast-land is exposed to uncontrolled cyclic erosion - meaning erosion can occur in any part along the coast-land at any time - hence it is an issue that needs focus and attention.

3. While it will cost an exorbitant amount of money to build humongous works for a one-in-a-hundred year flood prediction to prevent flooding --- there will still be flooding. For a 1:100 year flood forecast, that means that in any year there will be a one percent probability that flooding will occur anytime.

4. Historically and currently, sea wall structures in Guyana are built with about a one-in-10 to 25 year probability. That means that there is a four to 10 percent probability that flooding will occur in any year.

Temporary sluice door installed at Grove/Diamond to prevent further flooding

The temporary door
The temporary door

A temporary sluice door has been installed at Grove and Diamond, East Bank Demerara to prevent more flooding from occurring during the current spring tide.

Planks for the temporary sluice door were driven into the back and front of the koker with the expectation of keeping residents secure from other high tides.

A completely new door is expected to be in place within a matter of days as regional authorities are currently accelerating the procurement process as the situation has been designated an emergency.

Sad that this day in age Guyana still cooping with 19th century problems. A reliable power grid is way past due. Its the 21st century, there are many ways to obtain clean energy.

Flooding will always be issue unless something is done along the coast. It will only get worse. For reals though, how much boulda rock can u put to stop water from coming inland? Its like putting a plasta band-aid over a long deep cut. Yet ppl still building along coast like there is not water rising. Is there no room to build inland?

Out with the old, in with the new, isn't that the saying?

Welcome Choka. I agree, people talk of flooding and sea defense but half the flooding comes from water runoff from the highlands. When I was growing up in upper Demerara, large lakes came about during the rainy season and submerged by the end of summer.  This is now all gone due to farming.

What is needed is work on the conservancy to retain more water. It needs to be deepened and dammed better.  Canals need to be dug to channel the water. This water will then be available for rice, Agro and for drinking purposes.   Aqueducts can be created to distribute the fresh water.

Lake Powai north of Mumbai is an example to follow.  Now it doubles for recreational purposes with boats and hotels.  It raises 15/20 feet during the monsoons.  This water used to End up in lower Mumbai.

I see bright days ahead for the children of Guyana. They will not live on the edge of starvation and wallow is misery like our generation.  I spoke to my aunt yesterday in GT, dem happy like a lark even though she voted Coalition in 2015.

Good thing PNC lost.
