Experts from UN Counter-Terrorism Committee coming next weekPDFPrintE-mail

THE Ministry of Home Affairs announced last evening that seven experts from the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate will be visiting Guyana on Monday and Tuesday  of next week, to conduct an assessment of Guyana’s efforts in the implementation of the United Nations Resolution 1373 “Anti-Terrorism: Calling for Suppressing Financing, Improving International Cooperation”.

The team comprises the following experts:

1. Mr. Weixiong Chen – Deputy Director of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED)
2. Ms. Elisabeth Joyce – Section Chief, CTED, Coordinator of delegation
3. Ms. Sue Takasu – CTED Senior Legal Officer
4. Mr. Enrique Ochoa – Committee Expert from ‘1540 Committee’
5. Mr. Henrik Juhl Madsen – Associate Professional Officer, Maritime Security and Facilitation, Maritime Safety Division
6. Mr. Yuen Chi-Kin Luke – Interpol Officer
7. Mr. David Alamos Martinez – Terrorism Prevention expert, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

The two-day itinerary will commence with an opening session on Monday at the Police Force Officers Training Centre, to be addressed by Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee.
The team will meet with senior government officials as well as officials from the law-enforcement agencies.
