Bernard Bailey struck a robust half century to lift Eccles to a 30-run win over Combined United when the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association/ Sterling Products Ltd/Industries Supplies Guyana T20 tournament continued on Sunday last. Bailey hammered three fours and seven sixes in a top score of 64 to boost Eccles batting after they were reduced to 41-5 on a difficult surface. He shared in a sixth wicket stand of 88 with Lenny Pancham before Pancham was dismissed for 21. Germain Douglas contributed 23 as Eccles posted 137-8 off their reduced quota of 15 overs due to rain. Ravin Bankay claimed 4-11 and Pramashwar Persaud took 2-30. Jurmain Ramroop got Combined United reply off to a flier, hitting nine fours and two sixes in scoring 57, but only Vijay Persaud of the other batsmen reached double figures with 13 as they were bowled out for 107 in 12 overs. Kevin Plantz captured 3-9 and Kelvin Singh 2-15. On Sunday, Uprising got a walk over from Bayrock. The competition will continue on Saturday with the quarterfinal matches.
