The Guyana Police Force reported that, at about 07:30hrs this morning (Thursday), a police rank, who is also a licensed firearm holder, was walking along Robb Street, Georgetown, when he was attacked by Sherwin Monka who took away his gold chain.Sherwin Monka, of Albouystown, was shot during the robbery and later succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. The Police Office of Professional Responsibility is conducting investigations into the incident.
Throw his body to the crows. The police is right, we take no prisoners.
Maybe the solution to the rapid crime is to be like the USA and allow legal firearms, give citizens the right to defend themselves, why only must the police allow to carry arms off duty. The criminals will have to guess twice before acting, because they never know who has a gun. There we go again, look at WHO are the bandits, shoot their ass.

Warria, I hope you know you have to apply for a firearm permit. Cow thieves are not allowed to own or carry a gun.

It's tough to get a firearm licence in Guyana. About 18 months ago I was in Guyana and I saw a bunch of firearm licence applications (from cattle farmers) at Springlands police station. I heard a lots of complaints also about not getting a licence. So it's not the PPP, it's the way it is. Why give them a gun when your family will steal it and go and choke and rob people.
