Guys, I know most of us have kids or grandkids who drive , but share this sad incident with your love ones so they can be aware when taking friends in their vehicles .. whether as a courtesy.
Here is the story... and I will tell you what happens recently...
An Ajax teen killed in a car crash in Pickering is being remembered by friends as an outgoing young woman who loved life.
The woman, identified by friends as 19-year-old Nadia Mohabir, was making a left-hand turn in a gold Acura when it was struck by a dump truck on Bayly Street between Liverpool and Sandy Beach roads Tuesday evening.
Mohabir was declared dead at the scene. Two 23-year-old passengers from the vehicle – a man and a woman – were both rushed to hospital to be treated for serious to critical injuries.
The 50-year-old driver of the dump truck was uninjured.
Speaking with CTV Toronto Wednesday, friends spoke through tears as they remembered Mohabir as a dedicated friend with an upbeat personality.
“She was witty. She was so funny and so happy all the time,” friend Nicole Clinton said. “She was really outgoing and she really just loved life.”
Another friend, Rebekah Jarrar, said Mohabir was always there for her.
“Through everything she’s always been the person that I can go to, no matter what and I’ll always remember that,” Jarrar said.
According to her social media profiles, Mohabir studied business and technology at Ryerson University, worked as a server at a popular Italian restaurant in downtown Toronto, and occasionally modelled as well.
Neighbours near the crash site told CP24 that collisions have been a frequent occurrence on the stretch of road where the deadly collision took place. Pickering’s deputy mayor said Wednesday that the municipality will now look at installing a traffic light at Krosno Boulevard to make the intersection safer.
