We were not recipients of the β€œBecause we care grant

Dear Editor,
I write, not only as a concerned parent but as chairperson of the Four Miles,Port Kaituma Nursery School Annex PTA, seeking your assistance in highlighting our situation to the relevant authorities; namely, the MOE, Mrs.Priya Manickchand, the Finance Minister Mr. Ashni Singh, and Welfare Department.
Editor, we, the parents of the above mentioned school, were invited to uplift these grants on Monday, October 20 at the nursery school. On Sunday, October 19, around21:30 hrs, most parents were contacted by the head teacher via text messages stating that we would not be receiving this grant until further. notice. The following day, I contacted the teacher and she related what was told to her by her superiors.
Attempts were made to get a better insight into the situation but officials remain mum on the issue.
An investigation carried out by a few parents with connections in the various villages found that students of Falls Top Primary, Aracaka nursery/primary and Baramita Primary schools were also not beneficiaries of the much anticipated grant. We are trying to be optimistic but this is Guyana and regardless of our race and creed, we fear being victims of other’s greed.
We were part of that budget approved and should not be left out. We are therefore inviting the relevant authorities to show how much they care and let us know what is really going on with the promised and approved grants for our children.
Please note, we are of the understanding that the teachers of our School are not to be held accountable.
