The Berbice Amateur Basketball Association 2017 Tournament for team in Berbice and sponsored by Nigel Hinds Financial has seen the rescheduling of games after the contest between Canje Knights and Ithaca Hardliners was not played due to the inclement weather last weekend at Vrymanβs Erven Basketball Court in New Amsterdam. The competition will however, continue this week at Rose Hall Court on the Corentyne. NA Warriors will clash with Rose Hall Town Jammers at 16:00hrs.
Jammers will be boosted by overseas player Kevon Wiggin. Wiggin will team up with the likes of Michael King, Mickle Lewis and Rayborne Murray to face New Amsterdam Warriors.
BABA President Vibert Garrett recently met with the Mayor and City Council for the Council to grant permission to the Berbice Basketball Association in collaboration with Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation to develop the Vrymenβs Erven Basketball Court with lights so basketball can play at night.
Six teams are involved in the competition which is being played on a round Robin basis in two zones. Zone A includes Canje Knight, Fyrish Black Sharks and Ithaca Hardliners, while Zone B comprises of Rose Hall Town Jammers, Hopetown Stealers and NA Warriors.
Trophies, cash and other incentives are up for grabs. The tournament is being organized by Garrett.
