Berbice bridge toll waived for PPP/C meeting

Posted By Stabroek editor On April 19, 2015 @ 3:36 pm In Local News | No Comments

The Berbice bridge toll was today waived for persons attending the PPP/Cā€™s Albion rally in what will be seen as another case of the abuse of public resources for the gain of the ruling party.

The waiving of the bridge toll for political meetings has never been announced by the Berbice Bridge Company.  When APNU+AFC held their meeting at Whim last month some people were allowed through without paying the toll once they said they were going to the event but others paid the toll.

Today, operators were asking vehicle occupants if they were attending the rally and once an affirmative answer was given they were allowed through without paying the fee.

It is unclear where the instruction for the toll waiving came from and why there should be a waiver for any political party meeting.

Why is anyone surprised? This bridge was build with the nations money and a mortgaging on old people pension plan and handed over to PPP coneys. Look at who "owns" it. I am sure the remission of tax and dividends of millions of dollars by brassington is not because he has the guyanese people at heart. He has the PPP leech scheme at heart. This is one of their money making scheme. If the PPP is out of office these crooks lose their cash cow.
