Relatives and friends of murdered carpenter, Faiyaz Narinedatt, of Number 70 Village, Berbice, showed tremendous support on Thursday as they peacefully picketed in the scorching sun with placards that read “Justice for Faiyaz”

Relatives and friends of the murdered carpenter protesting in front of Springlands Magistrate’s Court, Corentyne, on Thursday.

This occurred as the five accused – Radesh Motie, 39; Diadatt Datt, 18; Harri Paul Parsram, 49; Orlando Dickie and Niran Yacoob, 37 – made another appearance before Magistrate Charlyn Artiga.
Representing the prosecution was Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Telford of the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The prosecutor requested time to review the file to present his case.
However, Mursaline Bacchus, attorney for the five accused, objected, noting that his clients were charged two weeks ago and police should have been ready to proceed with the case.
The men will make their next court appearance on December 16.

Outside of the court, the Corentyne villagers who were picketing were adamant that justice must be served.
On November 1, Narinedatt’s body was discovered on the Number 70 Public Road.
Initially ruled by police as a hit and run, it was only through the persistence of relatives

that a team from the Major Crimes Unit Georgetown took over the investigation and determined that Narinedatt was murdered.
He was allegedly beaten and dumped on the roadway where his body was run over with a car to make it seem like an accident.
The murder of the carpenter was allegedly ordered by US-based millionaire Marcus Brian Bisram.
Narinedatt was said to have attended a party hosted by Bisram, who allegedly made sexual advances towards him.

Narinedatt allegedly refused his advances, which sparked Bisram into a rage. He allegedly ordered his people to kill the carpenter and said that he would take care of it.
Police have issued a wanted bulletin for Bisram saying they want to question him.
However, the businessman has returned to New York and has since taken lawyers there.

INTERPOL has issued a red notice for Bisram.
Investigations are continuing.
