Berbice cop held after 50-lb ganja bust

A Police Corporal and another individual were arrested yesterday afternoon after they were busted with over 50 pounds of marijuana in their possession in South Ruimveldt.

Commander of ‘A’ Division Marlon Chapman last evening confirmed the arrest of the men.

He said that police, acting on information, carried out an intelligence-led operation at Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt.

The operation led officers to find several bags of marijuana concealed in the trunk of a car. The parcels of marijuana were found inside a black plastic bag.

The lawman, who is currently in custody, is based at the Central Police Sta-tion in New Amsterdam, Berbice.
