Mr. DβSouza, who has accused President Obama of carrying out the βanticolonialβ agenda of his father, a Kenyan economist, initially argued that he had been singled out for prosecution because of his politics. But on the morning in May when he was scheduled to go on trial, he pleaded guilty and expressed remorse to the court for his conduct.
When Mr. DβSouza, 53, entered his guilty plea, Judge Berman said he could face up to two years in jail. The federal sentencing guidelines call for 10 to 16 months, but the final decision is up to the judge.
