Change Guyana seeking female PM Candidate to replace Nigel Hinds

0

Change Guyana Presidential Candidate Robert Badal is looking for a female candidate to be his running mate for the March 2nd General and Regional Elections.

Badal on Tuesday told the media that his party is looking at several names on its Candidates List, submitted to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Friday, to select a suitable Prime Ministerial Candidate to replace Nigel Hinds.

“Half of the country is female and if half of the country down tools, what happens with the country…of course we would like a female Prime Minister,” he said.

Hinds did not present himself as a candidate for the elections on Nominations Day last Friday; on Sunday he officially announced that he is not in the running for his party as the Prime Ministerial Candidate.

He bowed out of the race, deciding to keep his US citizenship to access healthcare in that country.

Hinds told the News Room on Monday that he found out he had diabetes and his kidneys were only functioning to a 50% capacity. He believes he should be treated in the US, describing the local healthcare system as the worst in the English-speaking Caribbean.

Hinds remains the Chairman of the party and has promised to be on the campaign trail.

Election is a show for these people.  They see an opportunity to grab attention. What does one gain by running for president when he/she has no chance of winning a seat?  Have you ever asked yourself that question? I think it's more about their personal egos than the interest of the people. Why would a man from New York or Toronto just pick up and go form a political party when election time comes around?

Many of us Guyanese have grandiose delusions. Badal maybe a successful businessman, but can he convert his business talent into a good politician?  So far, he has only shown us the hotels he has built and various wheeling and dealings that he has done with people in the gov't.  Let this brother take a rest. He has the dough to run but he does not have the support to give him a win for a single constituency. The people of this country understand how number works and how the addition of more parties can complicate an already delicate situation. The PPP lost by a narrow margin in 2015. This occurred because thousands of its own supporters did not vote for them.  Those voters are now firmly in the camp of the PPP.

The failures of the coalition gov't. has been the number factor for the decline of the ruling parties support and the re-energizing of the PPP electoral strength. Politicians ought to know that people memories are not short. They remember the promises made and the condition of their lives then vs. now. They are not going to throw you their votes blindly once again when you have failed miserably to deliver on your promises.  Guyana is now an oil producing country. The lack of transparency in the sale of oil and the issuing of oil contracts have got people up in arms against what they see as rapidly emerging of kleptocracy that corrupt, cruel, and having nothing moral or ethical in their hearts.

This Badal individual seems stranger with every passing day. Of course he would like a female PM, he said. Yet the first opportunity he had to choose a PM candidate, he picked a male.

On point!  I would add that his ego is super inflated and he, like many others, have identified major weaknesses in the political candidates.  Badal is accustomed to wheeling and dealing and getting his way and he thinks this is just another wheeling and dealing opportunity.  He sees himself as a Maharajah who deserves to be sitting on the oil throne.

Except Trump has four Cs. Criminal, Con, Cheat, and Coant Grabber. Badal might have one or two of these.
