Over 20,000 Public Servants, members of the Disciplined Forces granted 5% to 8% salaries increase -retroactive to January 1, 2014

“Circulars have already been issued to effect the payment of these increases on the wages and salaries for 2014. “

Sounds like a vote buying trick to me. 5 to 8 more peanuts in a bag of 100 ain't much to shout about though. The actual value of the increase for the bottom and middle rank will be eaten up by the real inflation figure. It certainly isn't 2% inflation.

They still into PNC voodoo economics.  Believe me, the AFC economics know the truth, they just cast away their principles for a while, consumed by blind envy and hatred.

Where did you get that two percent from? Did you take your fingers and dig it out from your ass?

More reputable information based it at 3.9 percent for year ending 2013 and when the lame duck government gives a mere pittanace, they would take the year before figures to do that adjustment.

In giving an increase for  for Jan 2014 to Dec 2014, one normally looks at ending of 2013 figures, and 2013 figures at end of Dec 2013 says 3.9 percent.

The increase that the Rogue PPP/C is giving is for year starts Jan 2014.

Dumbo, who ever set that rule, nitwit ASJ? The increase is for fiscal 2015.  Now, go back to the drawing board!

Considering the high cost of living and clerical-to-professional wages/salaries in the private sector, public servants need a salary increase. But two things are suspect: the government's motive at this controversial political juncture, and its unilateral decision to bypass the Public Service Union. Let's wait for the PSU's reaction to the OP announcement.

Gil is spinning nonsense again.

The PPP outsmarted the opposition once again and has proven that it knows how to take care of civil servants and ultimately win a majority government.

Based on pictures posted here of AFC's meetings, they are finished. The AFC consists of a bunch of immature politicians.

Ever wondered why top brass member Gerhard fled the AFC ?

Corruption in the AFC combined with infighting led to his decision.

Without parliament to approve the increase, it is also unlawful in its execution. Especially since the so called pay increase is for 2014 and over the period when Guyana was still a democracy. Given that we now operate under a junta, the so called increase is of no value. It still can't get passed without a parliament vote.

What a pitiful set of people. Never have I heard the Big Salary Increase for workers receiving an increase in their salary..never.

This shows the low the Govt is stooping to make news. This is not fkin news, this is a reality, people should always be paid what they deserve and these people more than likely deserve more.

Last year the PPP said that they didn't have the money to pay salary increases which were demanded.

We now see that the PPP relented this year.

Every one knows why.

Was the PPP asking for salary increases last year? Some one was and who ever it was will get the credit.
