The bodies of two missing West Coast Berbice youths were this afternoon discovered at Cotton Tree Village.
According to information gathered, the two lads who are from Number Three Village, were reported missing since last evening after leaving home to head to the Cotton Tree backlands.
Relatives today carried out numerous searches and it was only around 5 pm that the bodies were discovered.
Police sources have indicated that the both bodies have marks of violence.

Trouble brewing in the homeland ,it's mentioned one of the youth is the cousin of former Minister Nicolette Henry .There are X marks on one of the body.

My condolences to the families. I hope that the police solve this horrible crime promptly. This crime appears to be racially motivated and is totally unacceptable.
Whoever killed these boys has no feelings about killing a human. Most likely that person has killed before. Looking at the crime scene tells me that the boys were suddenly ambushed. That person came upon them in silence thus he knows how to move threw bushes in silence and knows the vegetation that makes noise when a human is moving threw the bushes. Also, that person was observing the boys without the boys knowing that they were being watched.

"I am sickened and horrified by the gruesome killing of two young boys - cousins, Joel Henry (19 years old) and Isaiah Henry (16 years old) â whose bodies were today found in the village of Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice.
Today marks another horrific and tragic day in our beloved country with two boys senselessly cut down in the prime of their youth.
I, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the APNU+AFC Coalition and all Guyanese, extend deepest condolences to their parents, siblings and relatives who have been thrown into a state of shock and mourning.
The APNU+AFC Coalition calls for an immediate, full and thorough police investigation into this heinous crime and the apprehension of the killers without any delay. We commit to doing everything necessary to ensure that justice is served in this matter to the fullest extent of the law.
We recognize and understand the pain, anger and anguish the relatives and villagers of No. 3 Village (where the boys are from) are experiencing at this time. I call on them to remain vigilant but to allow the police to conduct their investigation in a timely manner.

STATEMENT BY H.E. DR. IRFAAN ALI ON MURDER OF TEENAGERS IN BERBICE
It is with a heavy heart that I was informed of the brutal and senseless murder of Isaah Henry and Joel Henry of West Coast Berbice. I have since spoken to the Minister of Home Affairs and Commissioner of Police urging them to deploy all needed resources to bring the perpetuator(s) to justice. We cannot and would not tolerate this type of brutality in our communities and country. I can understand the pain of the families and community and my prayers and thoughts are with you. Whilst we await the swift work of the police to bring those responsible to justice, I urge residents from the communities to be patient and support the police in ensuring justice is served. I ask you to act lawful and responsible in demonstrating your anger and hurt. As President, I can understand the emotions but, I ask that the police be given an opportunity to do their job. I also assure all of you that I have asked for a constant update on the progress of investigations by the Police to be shared with the media, community and country.

This is the same sort of things that happened to Indians living in the Buxton area a few years back. People killed and bodies burnt, people missing and kidnapped never to be heard of again, never.
I think the PPP was the government when those horrendous acts were taking place. They were paralyzed then. Let's see what they do this time around. I would expect Cotton Tree to be turned upside down not to upset the PNC.
This is a despicably repugnant act and these two young men did not deserved to die in this way.
I don't see this as political. Ali needs to address this and not Bharat Jagdeo. The police must act swiftly to bring the murderer(s) to justice.

So far there are no reports about findings of paraphernalia associated with Voodoo rituals.

There were few missing children ,turned out it was done by kidnappers .The Burnham gov't was blamed that the kids was used for rituals. Those incidents was discussed on a thread here.

Three persons inclusive of the owner of a coconut estate have been arrested and are assisting police with investigations into the brutal murders of two cousins Joel Henry, 19, and Isaiah Henry, 16, of No. Three Village, West Coast Berbice.
The bodies of the two were found yesterday.
During a press conference this morning, acting Police Commissioner Nigel Hoppie disclosed that in addition to the owner of the coconut estate, a handyman and the ownerâs son have also been arrested.
He noted further that the Criminal Investigation Department has deployed six ranks from the Major Crimes Unit and is preparing to send additional ranks to aid in the investigations.
Hoppie also stated that the ranks are currently processing the crime scene and will be using every available technology in the force to crack the case.
Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn during the press conference said that there should be no excuse for the attack on the cousins and labelled the attack as âvicious.â He reassured all Guyanese that no stone will be left unturned during the course of the investigation.
Benn appealed to the protesting residents of the neighbouring communities to act in the interest of law and order.
âWe have to bring things back to a more peaceful situation and to allow the opportunity for the police force as a whole to access areas to do their investigations,â the Home Affairs Minister stressed.
It was stated that the force will be mobilizing additional resources to remove debris left behind by protestors and work to clear the thoroughfare.
âI want to continue to appeal to the residents in the communities out there, those upstanding and reasonable persons in the communities to bring their influence and appeal to bring calm to this situationâĶ Police have brought assets into the area to try to open up the roads again,â Benn underscored.
Residents of Region Five are continuing the protest along the main public road in Number 5 Village, West Coast Berbice, over the murders.
Isaiah, 16 and Joel, 18, went missing on Saturday after they left home to head to the backlands to pick coconuts.
After the teenagers failed to return on Saturday afternoon, a massive search was launched. The bodies with multiple injuries were found yesterday afternoon.
Residents are calling on the Guyana Police Force to conduct a thorough investigation and nab the perpetrator/s at the earliest.

It is appears to be true based on the way these murders occured that someone or some persons are hell bent on starting a race war.
But u appear to be rather eager about this. Let there be a full investigation, leaving no stone unturned. And whoever is responsible for this dastardly act MUST face the full brunt of the law.

The Ethnic Relations Commission, (ERC) today strongly condemned the killings of the two teens, Joel Henry and Isaiah Henry at Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice over the weekend and called for swift action by the police to apprehend those responsible.
The Commission is also pleading with Guyanese, especially those residing in the West Coast Berbice and nearby communities to remain calm and allow the Police to do their work.
âThe ERC remains firm that, first and foremost, the law must take its course. The Commission therefore, appeals to Guyanese to desist from any activity which can contribute to unnecessary tension as it is hopeful that those responsible will be brought to justiceâ, a release from the body said.
The Commission also strongly urged leaders, both nationally and at the community levels, to demonstrate responsible behaviour and to not use the pain of the tragedy to heighten racial tension. The ERC extended condolences to the relatives and friends of the young men.
It said that it remains committed to taking whatever course of action it deems necessary to assist in the de-escalation of tensions and the mending of fractured relations among citizens.
âThe ERC reiterates that investigations by the Police must first take precedence before the ERC acts to defuse any unwanted developments resulting from the tragic occurrences a few days agoâ, the release said.
The double murder is already blown out of proportion before the investigation is completed. My sympathy to families.

Let's allow the police to do their investigation before rushing to judgment. Three people are being questioned by the police. The bodies were found on the farmer's land and one would expect the police to question the farmer. We cannot jump to the conclusion that this crime was politically or racially motivated without presenting hard evidence. I know politicians are eager to exploit the deaths of these two men.
Let's not jump to conclusion. Allow the authorities to do their investigation. Murders are not new to Guyana. It's something happens all of the time.

Let's not jump to conclusion. Allow the authorities to do their investigation. Murders are not new to Guyana. It's something happens all of the time.
Some can speculate and inflame an already tense situation. Any small spark can bring back the race riots in the 1960's and some are too dumb to see this happening. This time the British is not around to keep the races apart.
We have our political differences, but this situation is much worse where it can escalate out of control.

The protest at Hopetown
September 8 ,2020
Five persons were in police custody yesterday in con-nection with the gruesome murders of Isaiah and Joel Henry of Number Three Village, West Coast Ber-bice and protests over the killings continued in Regions Five and Six and saw the police firing off pellets and tear gas at Hopetown to clear the road.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum last evening confirmed with Stabroek News that five persons were in custody assisting with the investigation. Autopsies on the victims have been scheduled for tomorrow.
Initially police in the region had placed a farmer, who owns rice land and a coconut estate, into police custody. Later, his son and a handyman were arrested.
According to a police source on the ground, ranks from the Major Crimes Unit after arriving in the region placed two labourers who work with the farmer in police custody yesterday.

Up to press time, protest actions were still ongoing in Number 4 and Number 5 Villages, Number 28 Village and Hopetown, West Coast Berbice. In Region Six residents took to the streets in Union, Corentyne and Number 1 Village, Corentyne.
At Number 28, protesters placed several pieces of old machinery, trees and wood across the road in an effort to stop the flow of traffic, while at Hopetown protesters placed a small wooden building in the middle of the road along with old machinery parts and later started a fire.
Traffic for most of yes-terday was at a complete standstill in Region Five as there were blockages between Number 4 and Number 5 Village, at Number 28 Village and at Hopetown, West Coast Berbice.
The majority of road users had to turn around, while others got out of the vehicles and walked past the blockage and then boarded another vehicle.
One person told Stabroek News that they had to exit vehicles several times since they needed to get to the Fort Wellington Hospital to visit a patient.
Last evening, pellets were fired off at Hopetown, injuring APNU+AFC official Carol Joseph.
Meanwhile, over in Region Six, at Number 1 Village, residents came out several times throughout the day but left after police arrived and then returned. At Union Village, Coren-tyne, residents protested on both sides of the road throughout the afternoon and into the evening over the killings.
During a press con-ference yesterday morning in Georgetown, acting Police Commissioner Nigel Hoppie said that in addition to the owner of the coconut estate, a handyman and the ownerâs son had also been arrested.
When questioned about what led to the arrest of the first three persons, Hoppie only noted that the coconut estate belonging to one of the persons in custody was located in close proximity to where the bodies were discovered.
Police in a statement on Sunday had said, âthe bodies of Isaiah Henry and Joel Henry were found about 600 feet from each other in clumps of bushes near to a coconut farmâ.
The policeâs statement also noted, âFurther examination of a nearby coconut farm owned by the suspect now in custody showed what appeared to be blood stains on the ground. Also, a coconut peeler and some peeled coconuts were seen at the said locationâ.
Meanwhile, the acting commissioner also noted yesterday that the Criminal Investigation Department had deployed six ranks from the Major Crimes Unit and was preparing to send additional ranks to aid in the investigations.
Yesterday, when the members of the Major Crimes Unit arrived in Region Five, they were blocked from entering at Number 5 Village, West Coast Berbice.
The ranks then exited their vehicle and began pleading with protesters to allow them through while explaining that they were there to offer their assistance.
Although the protesters were not too pleased to allow them through, the ranks while talking walked around the blockage on the road, while their vehicles were left on the opposite side.
Hoppie also stated yesterday that the ranks were processing the crime scene and will be using every available technology in the force to crack the case.

At Hopetown, when police attempted to remove the blockages with a machine the persons gathered formed a human barricade which cause the work to come to an abrupt halt.
The protest action over the killings began on Sunday evening.
Isaiah, 16, a student at the Woodley Park Secondary School, and Joel, 18, attached to the Blairmont Estate, went missing on Saturday after they left home to head to the backlands to pick coconuts.
On Friday evening, Isaiah had informed his father that he would be heading into the backlands on Saturday morning to pick coconuts from their farm.
Stabroek News was told that Isaiah left home just around 5.30 am Saturday and on his way he met his cousin.
It is suspected that after Joel informed Isaiah that he was not working on Saturday, Isaiah asked his cousin to accompany him on the trip and after informing Joelâs relative the duo went about their journey.
After the teenagers failed to return on Saturday afternoon, a massive search was launched.
Isaiahâs father had said they searched the backlands on Saturday afternoon into the evening and early Sunday morning but it was only on Sunday afternoon that the bodies were discovered.
Police in a statement had said, that âIsaiah Henryâs body was seen lying on his back with his head pointing in an eastern direction and feet pointing west.
The body was clad in grey short pants, a light green long-sleeved jersey and was barefooted. A wound was seen on his throat, two to (the left side of his head), one on his forehead and one to the left side (of his) chinâ.
According to a source, who was on the scene, and from video footage seen by this newspaper, Isaiahâs body also bore an âXâ on the right side of his head.
The police said, âJoel Henryâs body was found with the upper half in a hole. The body was clad in black long pants, a green long-sleeved jersey with white fine stripes and barefooted. The body bore a mark around his throat and bruises on the fingers of his right handâ.
The police had also stated, âFurther examination of a nearby coconut farm owned by the suspect now in custody showed what appeared to be blood stains on the ground. Also, a coconut peeler and some peeled coconuts were seen at the said locationâ.
Meanwhile, in connection with the murder possibly being committed at another location, Hoppie said investigators were still on the ground working.
Hoppie also noted that the bodies were found 600 feet apart.
He continued, âEven though they were 600 feet apart the first one closer to the establishment was somewhere around 600 feet outâ.
Questioned about impressions in the grass from the rice field to the coconut estate, Hoppie said that the ranks were still combing the area in search of any possible useful evidence.
Stabroek News confirmed that ranks from the Major Crimes Unit visited the location yesterday.

It is wrong to kill two black youths. It is wrong to burn Indian businesses and destroy property and cause more killing. Justice must be served but the investigation is ongoing. This is turning into a political race war. Before justice is served many more lives will be lost.

These three men were stripped and beaten by protesters at Recess, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara
A 61-year-old mechanic was on Tuesday attacked by 15 young men a short distance from his Recess, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home while three others were stripped, beaten and almost set on fire.
This occurred during protest action at Mahaicony over the brutal murder of 16-year-old Isaiah and 19-year-old Joel Henry whose mutilated bodies were found at Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice (WCB) on Sunday.
The protests started at No. 5 Village, WCB where the teens resided and quickly spread to other villages including Recess and Calcutta in Mahaicony.
Dr Anesa Kandhai told the News Room that her father, Shyam Kandhai left his home to purchase items at his sisterâs shop located on the Recess Public Road at around 11:00h and on his way back, he was stopped by a group of 15 young men on bicycles.
One of the men was armed with a hammer while the others were armed with wires which they used to hit him about his body.
âMy dad just came out on the public road, less than two minutes from where weâre living and went to his sisterâs shop to grab something, came out, entered his car and these guys blocked the road with bicycles, Dr Kandhai noted in a Facebook live video earlier Tuesday.
The man was struck to his head with the hammer and a scuffle ensued. The father of three was rescued by a nearby resident and subsequently taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital where he was treated and sent away.
The family is calling for peace to prevail before the situation worsens.
âIâm here urging every Guyanese to let peace reign because at the end of the day, if we continue with this mentality, weâre going to lose people that we love,â Dr Kandhai urged.
Meanwhile, the News Room has also confirmed that two other men were beaten and stripped on the Recess Public Road during the protest while a minibus was torched by the same 15 young men. They also tried to set the men on fire but they were rescued by residents.
Additionally, another man, identified as âKunkieâ was also beaten.
Someone is fanning the flame to encourage protestors to destroy Guyana and make the country ungovernable and they look to social media like this to pour more fuel. We saw it in Linden and Agricola. We say it with Courtney Crum's death. Now we are seeing it again. Maybe the investigation may tell us a different story.
