Terrence Boodram’s body yesterday at Stabroek Market

While vendors and commuters bustled in the downtown Stabroek Market, the body of 53-year-old Terrence Boodram was discovered at noon yesterday.

Pedestrians in the area found the body near the Stabroek Stelling View, behind the Stabroek Market Fire Station. The find was subsequently reported to the police outpost in the market at about 11:00hrs.

Shortly after, police officers cordoned off the area, restricting the smooth flow of traffic in the area. A city morgue service soon came to the scene to transfer the body to the Georgetown Public Hospital where Boodram was pronounced dead.

There were no obvious signs of violence about Boodram’s body to suggest that his death resulted from foul play. However, investigators have not made any conclusions about the cause of death.

From all appearances the deceased was thought to be a vagrant in the Stabroek Market. It was later revealed that Boodram was the brother of a prominent businessman in the area.

Boodram’s death comes 24 hours after an unidentified body was discovered on the seawall adjoining the Rupert Craig Highway.

That body was found during the afternoon rush hour traffic. Police and medical personnel have not determined the cause of death in that case either.
