During debate on the bill to amend the Former Presidents’ Benefits Bill tabled by the APNU and later passed using the opposition's combined one seat advantage an interesting scenario was revealed. The APNU version that was put to the house by former Finance Minister Carl Greenidge contained a clause which states that should a former President secure additional employment after leaving office or engage in business all such benefits will be lost. However, during his presentation current Finance Minister Ashni Singh touched on this aspect of the bill and remarked "every day Sir, former public servants, former teachers, and former members of the discipline services continues to receive their superannuation benefits but they earn or receive benefits from current employment."

Dear Amral:

On a point of order, I expect this blog to at least have some level of truth when it is being peddled as coming from Official sources.

You know if I did not see this debate, I would have not contributed to this topic but how can one sit quietly and allow such a blatant untruth to fly?

Yes, Minister Ashni Singh did say these things, but immediately after the statements were made, Mr Carl Greenidge stood up and objected to the statements from the Minister on a point of order and asked for the source of these statements.

Minister Singh could not provide the source and upon the intervention of the Speaker, had to withdraw the comments and Mr. Greenidge asked that the comment be expunged from the Hansard.

That was so done with the full consent of the Minister.

So to see Mr Conscience present a total and absolute falsehood on this blog is most unfortunate and disappointing.

Is this how these creatures play, with no rules of engagement and with their only armour being garbage from the propaganda factory of LIES?

Tell a lie often enough and hope it become the truth!

Sad state to know who is in charge of Guyana; some characters with very little moral and ethical standards.

Just a sad state of affair in my homeland.
