Two ranks of the Guyana Police Force are under close arrest, after reportedly robbing a Brazilian national at gunpoint on Tuesday evening. Reports are that the two constables, Tremaine Ross and Jermaine Bernard, despite not being on duty, dressed in their uniforms and were in a light green Toyota Raum, when they stopped the man and asked for his passport. Sources said after the constables realized the manβs document was in order, they demanded ten thousand dollars to buy "drinks".
While the man was in the process of handing over the money, Ross reportedly grabbed fifty-six thousand dollars βͺand threatened to shoot him, if he reported the matter. However, the Brazilian national went to the Alberttown police station and was in the process of lodging his complaint, when Ross and Bernard entered the station.
Ross was positively identified by the man. Ross is said to have been on a police watch list for the past six weeks, as he was suspected to be involved in such activities, while Bernard was scheduled to complete a six- week criminal investigations department induction course yesterday
