Four civilians were shot and two army ranks accidentally wounded by ‘friendly fire’ today as the Linden crisis worsened. The One Mile Primary School was also torched.
Sources identified the injured civilians as Richard Lambert, Gordon Richardson, Marlon Richards and Cordel Bell.
Kaieteur News understands that the victims were shot when Joint Services ranks opened fire on protesters in the vicinity of Half Mile, Silver Town, First Alley.
Meanwhile, two alleged arsonists were said to be in custody in connection with the arson at the One Mile Primary School. A third was hospitalised, allegedly after being apprehended and beaten by irate residents.
According to reports, the suspect, who is well known in the community, confessed to receiving $200,000 to burn the school. He was reportedly identified by a security guard.
One Mile Primary School had a population of close to eight hundred, with approximately forty members of staff, according to reports.
