Brian Tiwari’s aircraft being used as movable polling station

…PPP/C objects to GECOM’s decision

The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) is objecting to the use of an aircraft owned by businessman, Brian Tiwari, who is a known APNU/AFC supporter and financier, to transport ballot boxes and polling officials on Monday’s Elections Day.
PPP/C General Secretary, Bharrat Jagdeo on Saturday pointed out that if this is done then there will be no trust in the process since using a known coalition supporter’s aircraft is akin to using private residences of people who are politically aligned.

“So, if you can’t use private residences of people who are politically aligned then how can you use a private aircraft of a man who’s politically aligned to transport ballot boxes and polling day officials,” Jagdeo asserted.
Tiwari operates a private executive air transport service.
There are at least three other established domestic commercial air services – Trans Guyana Airways, Air Services Limited and Roraima Airways.
In fact, on February 21, 2020, D-Day, when the Joint Services cast their votes, a Roraima Airways aircraft was used transport the polling officials and ballot boxes to various hinterland locations in regions across Guyana.

Moreover, history was created when the domestic airline’s Britten Norman Trislander 8R-GRF (CSN 1023) became an official Polling Station for General Elections at Orinduik, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).
