My mother in law say the Mackenzie picture brought bad memories, she was born in Wismar. She said the R H Carr vessel  is the one that brought them out from Wismar after the disturbance.

The PNC sins have been a scourge on Guyana. Some 6 decades later, their racism is still like a dark cloud over the country.

My parents would definitely know your mother-in-law and family. We lived at MacKenzie where my father was a major contractor to then Demba - Demerara Bauxite Company.

Perhaps and definitely it is your choice -- we can discuss details in PM.

Of course we can discuss general pertinent issues here.

Guyana was more developed in 1927 and 1959 than it was in 1987 and 1989. The PNC especially Burnham really did bruk up Guyana.

It's these people trademark. They have the whole of Africa and look what's happening there. Let's include the Middle East too, it's part of the African continent. The next thing left for them to do is to cannibalize each other. Might happen soon.

Found this on the internet. Beautiful pictures Of Guyana.

Pictures taken by my Dad while we were living in Mackenzie 1959-1961.

We returned to Guyana in 2009 on a trip that included Mackenzie. (Our pictures are in another set.) It was fun, especially finding our old house and seeing that the school is thriving. Watooka House is looking good too, and the pool is still there!

Our two other sets on flickr are: The RH Carr and Guyana 2009.

Thanks for posting those links. Now I know at least the name of the boat that evacuated us from MacKenzie to Georgetown. It was also good to see part of the land that my family once owned in one of the pics. I even saw two favourite fishing spots along the Demerara river.
