PPP picks its 32 Members for Parliament but Rohee refuses to release names
The main opposition, Peopleβs Progressive Party has selected the 32 persons from its list of candidates who will now go on to represent the party in the National Assembly.
PPP General Secretary Clement Rohee on Monday morning announced that the party has finalized the selection of its new Members of Parliament but he refused to release their names.
Rohee said the media and the rest of Guyana should wait for whenever the party returns to the National Assembly to find out who the new PPP Members of Parliament will be.
He however said the list offers a collection of diversity in age, experience, gender and race. He said it is at that time also that it will be revealed who will serve as Opposition Leader. There have been reports that former President Bharrat Jagdeo has been tipped to return to the National Assembly as Opposition Leader although the most recent former President Donald Ramotar is the Head of the PPPβs Nomination list.
Rohee would not confirm or deny that Jagdeo will be the next opposition leader. He said when the party returns to the National Assembly, it will also make known its chief whip and its choice for Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
