The government is making a substantial improvement in the financial security of public workers who have been struggling to make ends meet legally under the PPP. These increases will spur growth in the economy as the extra money will be used to raise the living standard of the recipients.

What as asinine comment. How does some increase in civil service salaries in of itself "spur growth".  It's good to see reasonable increases however, with the rest of the economy going the way it is, it's almost guaranteed inflection will eat to any increase.  There need to be a lot more on the supply side for this to work.  I really don't see it.  Maybe some cheap imports get a boost.

Your grasp of how economies work and how pay increases affect it borders on the absurd and makes you a laughing stock. These are impressive salary increases in light of the circumstances. I am interested to see how they will finance them. I know the Minister hinted he will use the government's deposits in commercial banks. That is essentially financing a flow with a stock. Let's see if the economy replenishes the stock in the near future. The Minister is in a tough position. The full time career politicians made lots of promises.

And that goes to demonstrate how the PPP has weakened the economy by forcing Guyanese to be dependent on imports from China, to businesses controlled by the PPP elite. The domestic production has been all but wiped out in favour of imports so that the PPP friends did not have to worry about employing black people.

It goes to say that blacks will not be contributing to the advancement of the economy of Guyana. They still will be looking for handouts.

This was an amazing delivery of an electoral commitment. In an environment where the economy is growing by 3.4% for 2015, 10% or more was granted to people earning less than $100.000.

It shows where there is political will, anything can happen.  

This singular act has made the Budget a much welcomed document.  Plus the icing on the cake was the $17,000 per month for we old people.
