Dr Walter Ramsahoye

Prominent neurologist Dr Walter Ramsahoye passed away yesterday and his contributions to the medical fraternity here were hailed by Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony.

He was 78 years old.

Longtime friend of the Ramsahoye family, Geoffrey Sankies told the Stabroek News that Dr Ramsahoye died at around 1:15 yesterday morning. He said that he had been very sick over the past three years.

He was the brother of Queen’s Counsel, Senior Counsel, and Guyana’s first attorney general, the late Sir Fenton Ramsahoye, and Geophysicist Dr Lyttleton Ramsahoye.

Walter has another brother, Samuel Irad Ramsahoye who unfortunately passed away on May 15, 2020.

Unfortunately also, Sam's wife Chandra Ramsahoye passed away a bit earlier than Sam on April 19, 2020.

Sam and Chandra Ramsahoye lived in Brossard, Quebec when they relocated to Canada.

Samuel Ramsahoye was much much much older than me when we worked together in Guyana ... Sam as the Chief Hydropower Engineer, and I was the Specialist Hydropower Engineer.

Sam and I have met in Canada on a number of times in Brossard, Quebec and Edmonton, Alberta.
