Rain expected during the next 24 to 48 hrs
[www.inewsguyana.com] â A Tropical Wave is in the Western Atlantic Ocean. At 08:00 hrs local time it was located at approximately 1900 km east of the Corentyne River. This system is expected to interact with the Inter-Tropical Zone (ITCZ) while it is over Guyana.
Associated weather: It is expected that this system will cause moderate to heavy showers, frequent rain and thundershowers. These conditions are likely to last between 24 hrs and 36 hrs commencing on Thursday 23 July, 2015 at about 20:00 hrs local time.
Possible effects of Weather: With the forecasted conditions, Coastal, low lying, and flood prone areas are likely to experience flooding and/or flash flooding. Gusty winds are likely to occur before and during thundershowers.
The National Weather Watch Center will continue to closely monitor this weather event and will issue bulletins as the situation evolves.
Present rainfall is expected to continue, intensifying into the evening. Residents of low lying communities such as Albouystown, sections of Queenstown, South Cummingsburg in Georgetown and others across the coastland, are asked to take precautions.
