o serve as trials for Inter Guiana 2018 team The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) has organised a one-week Inter Secondary School Tournament for schools in the East Berbice area commencing tomorrow. The schools have been divided into four zones.
Quarter final places is being reserved for the top two teams from each zone and would be played along with the semi and final on Friday September 22nd next, at Port Mourant. Schools in the Upper Corentyne zone will take center stage on tomorrowβs opening day at the Skeldon Community Center. On Monday, the action moves to cCntral Corentyne when schools will match skills at the Bush Lot Secondary School Court while on Tuesday, schools in the Lower Corentyne catchment area will be vying for supremacy at Port Mourant. The final set of preliminary matches will be contested on Wednesday when the schools in the New Amsterdam/ Canje areas compete at the Berbice High School. The top teams in the competition along with outstanding individual performers will be rewarded with trophies and other incentives, compliments of the BVA, Director of Sports, Christopher Jones and the National Sports Commission. Matches will begin at 09:30hrs, daily. According to President of the BVA Levi Nedd the tournament will also be used as trials to select a Guyana Under-18 team for the Inter Guiana Games, 2018.
