The APNU/AFC have increased the number of Ministers but have moved and passed a motion to reduce the days for the sittings of Committee of Supply from 7 days to 3 days .The Committee of Supply is the forum where the the estimates of each Ministry is scrutinized and the Ministers are required to answer questions from the opposition regarding their sector on how the budgeted sums will be sent. The business of the Committee Of Supply is the heart and soul of parliamentary overs...right and democracy. Today we have witnessed another shameless and authoritarian onslaught of parliamentary democracy . Imagine this Govt is refusing to submit itself to public scrutiny in National Assembly. What are they afraid of ? They can't defend their own budget? Or is it that they want to steal the money in the budget? I want to hear from all the people of this country about this atrocity . We are heading straight back to the dark days of dictatorship!

Do you really think that the budget estimates can be adequately examined in that time?

Intelligent and clear thinking Guyanese would concur with Baseman's concern about the reduction of days ministers are required to answer to the public. This is surely an attack on people's rights to query those in office. Mitwah cares about his party being in power rather than the rights of people to hold their gov't accountable.
