Just received a friend's email from Guyana to the effect that President Granger plans to "rename" two ministries/ministers soon. The portfolios relate to communications/IT and natural resources. Let's wait for details.

No surprise there. He is probably renaming two incompetent Ministers with two other incompetent people. If he fire both Moses and Ramjattan, which he should do, Nehru will keep a bigger party tomorrow night.
Today's Chronicle says Cathy Hughes will be Minister of Communications.
According to the Chronicle, President Granger says there is no "structural adjustments" to the Cabinet.
TRANSLATION: Nagamootoo remains the coalition's #2 and Ramjattan's #3 spot is secure. Not good news for GNI House Slave Brigade.
Isn't Nagamootoo responsible for Communication? Why the need for change?

Bro, public communications/information is different from telecommunications/Information Technology. Minister Hughes' new portfolio encompasses the latter.

Who handled telecommunications and information technology prior to it being assigned to Hughes?
President David Granger is expected to announce by this weekend several changes to some Ministerial positions.
Minister within the Ministry of Social Protection, Simona Broomes is being moved to the Ministry of Natural Resources. She will become the Minister within the Ministry of Natural Resources under Raphael Trotman who will head that Ministry.
The President will also confirm this weekend a decision to transfer Minister Keith Scott from the Ministry of Communities to the Ministry of Social Protection. He will take over the responsibilities for labour that will be relinquished by Broomes.
Region 10 Member of Parliament Valerie Sharpe-Patterson will be sworn in as Minister within the Ministry of Communities and she will take over the Housing Department responsibilities that are currently held by Scott.
The President is not expected to refer to the changes in his New Yearâs message but he is expected to make the confirmations on his weekly television show, The Public Interest, which will air on Friday night.
News Source understands that the Presidentâs decision to transfer Broomes from the Ministry of Social Protection is as a result of several complaints to him by the senior Minister for that Ministry, Volda Lawrence.
Minister Lawrence reportedly requested that the President moves Broomes from under her because she finds it difficult to have control over the way Broomesâ deals with labour matters.
A government source close to the Ministry of Social Protection indicated to News Source that it is no secret that Minister Lawrence has not been happy that Minister Broomes, while being the junior Minister, appears to have taken more of a control over the Social Protection Ministry especially in the area of labour.
Broomes who joined the government as a civil society member has been very outspoken against the injustices in the labour sector and has been able to get several employers to respect the labour laws and pay over money that they owed workers. Since she took over the portfolio last May, she was able to get various employers to pay over more than $50 Million to employees who they owed.
She has been described as one of the most proactive Ministers who appears to have a real connection with the ordinary man.
There are reports that Lawrence had cautioned Broomes on a number of occasions about âfalling out of lineâ with regards to the work of the Ministry and her position.
The Presidentâs decision to move Minister Keith Scott from the Housing sector may have come as a result of complaints about that sector being on a go slow and having no clear direction. There are also reports that the senior Minister of Communities, Ronald Bulkan may have had some concerns with the direction of the Housing Department.
With Valerie Sharpe-Patterson now taking on a Ministerial position, she is expected to leave her full time job as the head of the Linden Enterprise Network.
Political watchers who were contacted by News Source about the impending changes expressed some shock especially with the decision to transfer Broomes from the labour front, where they say, she appears to have been doing a good job.
Efforts to contact Ministes Broomes, Scott and Lawrence on the impending changes were unsuccessful.
One political analyst said the President may have made a major stumble with that cabinet change.

Granger expanded government is confusing him and costing unnecessary spending. Why he need all this reshuffling so early in his administration? Is he looking forward for a standing ovation or an A grade for playing chess?
Granger can shuffle all he wants but he has a bunch of incompetent Ministers and that is his problem.
He runs a bloated and inexperienced Administration which is focused on revenge rather than putting the economy on track and encouraging foreign investment.
He is stuck and things will only get worse.
He needs to reach out to Indos and stop his ministers and top officials from harassing Indos. He needs to create an atmosphere of confidence and not mistrust.
Looks like Moses was given a kick in the rear by Granger. First, he is not able to chair cabinet meetings and now he has lost his Communications Portfolio.
The next silent shuffle will be Ramjattan.
These two chaps are slowly being pushed aside and they cannot do anything about it.
I have no sympathy for either of them since they allowed themselves to become Granger's foot rag. They fail to realize how much power they hold.
Moses has been shuffled.

Listen Panty Man Redux,
I could care less is Ramjattan is kicked out tomorrow. It will be a cause of great celebration if he is kicked out.
No go and wash up.
Our esteemed friend, Mr. Gilbakka, stated that Nagamootoo and Ramjatttan positions are secured at #2 and #3 spot. This tells me two things. One, position is greater than performance. Two, keeping them happy is all it takes to comfort their supporters. I have a sense that these folks are giving Nagamootoo and Ramjatttan credit to overshadow Granger, while they show support for the coalition. It's hard to believe they really like the PNC and Granger. I guess they prepared for the divorce, or they too have anticipated the worst to come from the PNC.

Husband Granger is already fed up with his two wives Moses and Ramjattan.
This is how it starts, this time Granger made one of the boldest moves by demoting and silencing Indo Moses. This is how the divorce starts.
It is up to Judas to take the abuse or stand up to Granger and be counted.
He (Judas) is taking the abuse for now.
Even if Trotman is named security minister, he too will be cohersed to run his ministry in line with Chief dictator. No one in Granger government can ever be an effective crime fighter when your boss is releasing criminals through the back door.

Yuji, you're mixing things up. Lemme explain. Moses never had the communications portfolio. He was and remains Minister of Information, which is totally different from telecommunications. As Minister of Communications, Cathy Hughes will oversee GT&T, Digicel, Internet Technology, etc. The Ministry of the Presidency has been handling telecommunications but President Granger wants to place more importance, hence a special ministry.

Correct.

Spin all you want Gil but Moses has been silenced and put in his place.

Context, Cobra. Here is the context that prompted me to state that Nagamootoo and Ramjattan have retained their positions firmly. Bibi Haniffa had said: "He is probably renaming two incompetent Ministers with two other incompetent people. If he fire both Moses and Ramjattan, which he should do, Nehru will keep a bigger party tomorrow night."
I merely pointed out that Naga remains #2 and Ramjattan remains #3 as Vice-President, ie, Granger didn't fire them as Bibi had wished. Get it?

Magamootoo only know how to cuss down his grand children. That's all he knows about communication. No wonder Granger is yanking him. What does Kathy Huges know about Information Technology? She probably knows how to use Word and Excel. Replacing a coolie man with an unqualified negro.

Skelly he is not yanked,he deals with TV and Newspapers,Info and Technology falls under Kathy who will still be head of Tourism.
Talking about Information Technology this sector needed some boost, with current labor rates in Guyana they may attract some investors.I mentioned to a big che bat at Mitsubish Electric about the possibility to open a call center in GY, at that time he was exploring business in Brazil.

How can you establish a call center in Guyana when:
The power is unreliable?
The citizens are rude?
They prefer to polish and file their nails when people are waiting for service?
They look at the clock all the time to get out?
They prattle and have customers waiting?
They hang up on customers?
Has anyone seen year end accomplishments for any of these Ministers? Reshuffling means nothing.

I was hoping to hear a mega industry commissioned under the lame-duck regime to provide jobs for the jobless, but Granger was only playing chess game with his incompetent ministers.

Funny you let the PPP harass Afros and now you are hysterical that they are exacting revenge on Indos!
