By what miracle is this to be achieved by alienating almost everyone?
The PPP has to contend with the following:
1. A socially and intellectually decimated Indo population. In addition, we are a FORMER majority in Guyana on our way to emulating the Portuguese population's demise....migration+douglarization.
2. An increasingly independent Indian middle class not content with the PPP Cumrags' style of Mudhead Stalinism.
3. An Amerindian vote that is going to vote PNC from now on.
4. The complete absence of political talent within the PPP as a party.
5. The loss of the "incumbent" vote.
6. The distinct possibility of a new electoral system designed to keep the PPP out of office forever democratically.
I cannot believe the "solution" to all of these existential issues is the entrenchment of the culture, peoples, and practices that brought the PPP electoral disaster.
Is there something I'm missing here? Do they really think the PNC is just going to hand them 2020 on a puraine leaf?
P.S....for your AFC Mudheads, the PNC is sharpening the knives to Constitutionally finish you all off electorally. The end of PR means 10pc of the national vote=0 seats in Parliament.
Did you not commit to "working to reform the PPP from the inside" or some such shit right hay on GNI? So we should be asking YOU this question!!!!
After having had countless hours of my time wasted by segments of the PPP in drafting lengthy and pointless Memos to be read and discarded by idiots like Pavi, I have zero expectations of reform now. I had fantasized that Jagdeo was smart enough to have seen the light post-election. I of course do not believe in fantasies even my own.
The way to reform the PPP and make it competitive again is difficult but not impossible. It only becomes impossible as it is now when the people who have to go are in charge and no mechanism exists to remove them. Is the PPP executive going to fire themselves? That's essentially what has to occur for the PPP to be competitive. I won't say competitive "again" because the party was never competitive. They only had the ethnic consciousness+absolute racism of Indians to feed off of. And now that's not a path to electoral victory. Got to go liberal democratic now if you wish to sit in Government. Or be a permanent opposition for the next 28 years.
Everyone with any sense around the PPP knows what must be done to reform the PPP. It's just that the "reformers" lack the power to compel it. The only thing "reformers" can do is vote with their feet and hemhorrage PPP blood. We need to bleed the PPP down to a successively diminishing parliamentary delegation. That's the only course.
Just stepping in for a quick post, was in GT for a week, met many Guyanese, family and friends. As I see it, the (PPP) clowns have not learnt a lesson. They still think Jagdeo is the man, stupid people. I'm convinced, PNC won fair and square and will in 2020 with half an effort. PPP still don't understand the dichotomy of GT/non-GT Indians. Many GT Indians voted APNU+AFC, many many many. However, PNC and PPP need to move away from the Indo/Afro profiles to be sustainable. PNC will be no more successful than last time (oil ain't coming), so back to rice. They need to broaden the Indian appeal. I find Indians are on-board with Granger (they actually like him) for now, but the half-life is short, maybe few years. Indians are patient and he have lots of goodwill with Granger, even among the PPP constituency. However, Granger is under pressure from the "Caribj" clan in Sophia to re-establish PNC party paramountcy. Let's see if he caves.
