Was there more to this shooting .... brother was previously charged ... see below

A forgotten cellphone started a deadly night that one family will remember forever.

Brothers Ricky and Sunny Kalisaran were returning to their car in search of the missing device early Monday when one was killed and the other wounded in a Queens street robbery, police sources said Tuesday.

Ricky Kalisaran, 31, was fatally shot in the chest and bicep after arriving in New York from Guyana just two days earlier to attend his grandmom’s funeral.

Phone owner Sunny, 24, was shot twice in the back, with cops finding the wounded man lying on his side after the armed holdup, sources said.

Ricky was found face down on the sidewalk, and pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.

Local activists in Queens posted a $1,000 reward Tuesday for information leading to an arrest in the killing.

“Not only are (the Kalisarans) burying a grandmother ... but now they had to make additional funeral arrangements for a loved one who was shot for a gold chain,” said community activist Tony Herbert.

“This was senseless and it didn't need to happen."

Man, 31, shot on Lower East Side — but his lips are sealed

A witness recounted seeing two men struggling on a South Richmond Hill street, with one shouting “Let go of the gun!” before a second gunman appeared from a black Mercedes and opened fire.

A half-dozen .380-caliber shells casings were found at the scene on 124th St. near Liberty Ave., according to sources. Family members said the killing was over a gold chain.

The wounded Sunny was only able to tell investigators that he was shot during a robbery, sources said.

Both of the suspects fled inside the luxury car, sources said. A witness provided investigators with a description of the getaway car’s driver and the license plate of the Mercedes.

An NYPD camera captured the two-door Mercedes speeding away from the murder scene, the sources said.

Ricky Kalisaran was in Brooklyn to attend his grandmother’s Wednesday funeral.

The brothers and two of their cousins were headed into the Underground Lounge around 3:30 a.m. when Sunny realized that his phone was left inside their parked gray Infiniti, one of the cousins told cops.

The cousins entered the club and then realized the Kalisaran brothers were gone too long. The two came back outside to see the lights of NYPD cars.

The getaway car ran a red light and struck a 2007 blue BMW in a nearby intersection, with the damaged Mercedes driving from the wreck.

The dead man had no criminal history, while his kid brother Sunny was busted twice for criminal possession of a weapon and once for filing a false report.

I was so disappointed at the small group at the Vigil. This Community is indeed selfish and the Drinkers who were at the Bars just yards away sipping their drinks and talking SHIT as usual should be ashamed at themselves. It could have been one of them!!!

I walked over 8 blocks in the cold to go there and show my support and I have not visited a Bar in 4 years.

Anyway, to each his own. I wish the Family all the best and thank those who showed compassion and humanity.

Bhai Vish was there as usual.

Why are you complaining this soon in the day? Did you shake Vish hand and congratulate him for his dedicated work to the community?
