CANU on Saturday evening intercepted 61 lbs of suspected cocaine on a go-fast boat at the Parika Backdam and two men are in custody and a third who allegedly issued threats is being sought.
In a statement yesterday, the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) said that it intercepted the suspected drugs in a fibre glass vessel at Parika Backdam, East Bank Essequibo.
CANU said the darkly painted go-fast vessel was intercepted with several parcels of the suspected cocaine in its bow.
The two occupants: Muneshwar Dusrajh, 48, and Latchman Sankar, 35, were arrested and remain in custody.
CANU also alleged that it has received threats from a known suspect β Ryan Pemberton also known as `Sanchoβ of Alberttown, Georgetown and is currently seeking to have him arrested in relation to the bust. Anyone knowing his whereabouts is asked to make contact with the Unit on 226-0431.
CANU said that 25 parcels weighing a total of 27.866 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine were found.
