CANU intercepts vehicle with over 100lbs of ganja on Mandela Avenue
Four persons are now in the custody of drug enforcement officials after they were arrested following the discovery of a large quantity of cannabis in a vehicle on Monday evening.

Based on reports received, at about 20:25h on the day in question, several ranks attached to the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) swooped down on a car that originated from Berbice and found the illegal substance. The car was intercepted behind the Botanical Gardens, Georgetown.
According to the drug enforcement body, 35-year-old Jairam Lalman, of 757 Fort Ordinance Housing Scheme, East Canje, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) was transporting the cannabis from a location in his county to a βgivenβ location in the capital city.
However, his vehicle was intercepted by the CANU ranks before he could make the drop-off.
