Car flies off elevator in NY

Two injured people were hospitalized this morning after a car fell down a parking garage elevator shaft on the Upper East Side, according to fire officials. The fire department says the car fell around 9:45 a.m. at a garage on East 76th Street. Police say one person was trapped in the car, which is believed to have fallen four stories. Fire officials say the two victims have non-life-threatening injuries. Buildings Department records show the structure has two open violations from last year and another two from 2010.
