Exactly one week away from what would be an historic evening of fistic fury put on by Slingerz Entertainment and the Vergenoegen Boxing Gym, dubbed CARICOM Day ‘Cuff Out’ Boxing at the Vergenoegen Tarmac, West Coast Demerara, the various boxers are all confident of taking out each other.

One such pugilist is the Guyana Defence Force Light Heavyweight Markemder Pierre, who is promising to demolish whoever steps in front of him in the ring come fight night, next Sunday.

Pierre’s gym mates are also exuding confidence that they too will be just as demolishing on the night which will mark the first such activity under the night sky on the West Side; the GDF will be sending a strong team of 12.

But it will not be a night of smooth sailing for the soldiers as they will be up against equally confident fighters from the following gyms; Vergenoegen, Harpy Eagle, Republican, Pocket Rocket Gym of Linden, Rose Hall Town Jammers, Guyana Police Force, Wakenaam, Forgotten Youth Foundation and Young Achievers.

The organisers have stated that the event is being put together to assist in developing a positive mindset among the young boxers on show as well as the many who will be coming out to absorb the entertainment that is promised.

A total of 18-Fights will be served up on the night and is supported by the following sponsors, Courts Guyana, Ansa McAl, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, Two Brothers Pure Ice, Star Party Rentals and HJTV and Radio.
