You do that because there are strict for performance in those roles that are formal and expected to be observed and with controls to ensure compliance.

That you would  do that without such an authoritative baseline is,  as someone noted, is as stupid as if you are on a plane and someone said a Wombat is your pilot and still think you will get to the ground in one piece.
