In Guyana they give that job to CGX, a Canada based company run from a basement in a run down part of country by a couple of Guyanese . Canadian oil anyone?

Only in Guyana.

I know you enjoy blaming opposition parties for the failings and corruption of the PPP. And I appreciate that you would suffer heavy financial losses if the PPP was not corrupt. The facts remain however that at under the PPP financial mismanagement has been the largest ever in the history of the country. As a matter of fact the totalk mismanagement of the country under any other political party does not even come close to the yearly mismanagement of the PPP.

CGX is the usual enrichment scheme of governments to get their hands on some loot. These companies and are manned by people with no money to do the actual work and the become rich on the actual lease holdings. It is Cronies of the government leasing state lands for kickbacks with full knowledge that in the end the big companies usually come in taking the lions share.

They are guyanese and not my brother or sisters. My family lineage may be prolific with its share of crooks but not of this distilled crooked DNA. This is the first step in the trans location of assets of the state; forming pseudo companies that cannot meet the obligation to do as they say they will because history has shown us from across the world that they cannot.

The oil industry is cash intensive and it takes as much as many billions of collars investment before one well is tapped. This is Jagdeo affording his friends a leech source as usual. The assets of this company will in large part be in the hands of the large oil companies.

The principals here will end up being billionaires and with luck the ordinary guyanese will manage to get a little benefit. If Equatorial Guinea is the model  and there is little difference between the PPP  and the party there; we are going to be royally screwed. It has already began to follow the classic model we see from Nigeria to Turkmenistan

These are not points of negotiation but mere prudent practice needed to be acknowledged by those in charge. I am a mere dilettante on the matter and my input does not broach the broad actions necessary to save us from catastrophe. There are experts in the field whose lives were dedicated to the analysis of why 99 percent of nations never avoid the classic resource curse, the  burden of oil. These ought to have already been engaged in a transparent system open to self correction where it is lacking.

The absence of a strong national culture, ethnic schisms and a party bereft of a moral core  together with no habit of compromise among our competing races are all ingredients to take us down road of classic failures of oil rich states.

This PPP that you support is not going to change on its own. It has no forward thinking minds in its rank. Its political culture does not allow for the flowering of creative thinkers. It is ideologically bound, intellectually constipated and its praxis is of an era long gone; the soviet era. They still cling to leadership on a cult of personality, still envision themselves the vanguard party and still see one party autocratic rule as the norm.

It is juvenile diatribe like the above that demeans a Guyanese conversation. You know nothing about the formation of CGX, its filings with the regulatory authorities, and its business model to its shareholders.

I hope that the day will come when posters on this Board raise their level of contribution, and stay away from insinuations that granting a license offshore of Cayene (part of the country of France BTW) is the same as oil actually flowing. You know nothing of how oil prospecting, exploratory drilling and the associated infrastructure.

What on earth does CGX have to do with the PPP as a party or officials of it, and in a manner that is not transparent. When you read this from one contributor, you have to wonder about his intellectual vacuousness:

Who gives a shit about this person's family lineage and what place does it have in this discussion? He's right....he's a dilettante...like a flipping ant.

As I said, these are cronies straight up. They never had a dime to do the job. They depended on selling the shares which by any accounting is theirs only on merit of the the lease by the Jagdeo outfit afforded them. Any jack with an financial background and some savvy to sell a deal could do what they did.

What I am recounting is history of this industry. I do not care what you think or how much of an ant you presume me to be. I do not know by what you are a giant in this discourse. You stand on nothing but your bloody big mouth.

Inevitably, they will be owned by some large outfit. That is the basis of the leech factor in this industry, And yes I call them leeches you can call them friends and family.
