CH&PA hosts 2nd Annual Christmas Tree Light up
Amidst Christmas and other cultural presentations, the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) of the Ministry of Housing welcomed the festive season with their annual Christmas tree light up this evening.
Accompanied by the Prison Service Steel Orchestra the Ministry’s Choir led the caroling which accompanied the occasion along with other musical renditions and dances.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Hinds reflected on the Christmas traditions of Guyana where families would gather during the season to prepare the customary dishes of pepper pot, ginger beer and garlic pork among others.
He relayed fond memories of his own experiences as a child during the season, and also highlighted the reason for the season and urged those present not to forget the message of Christmas.
PM Hinds also congratulated the staff of the Ministry for their hard work during the past year and noted that it was good that they could relax a little during the festive celebrations.
After the formal ceremony, the staff, their families and special invitees, joined in singing Christmas carols and witnessed the much awaited lighting of the Christmas tree, perched atop the Housing Ministry.
Chief Executive Officer of CHPA Ms. Myrna Pitt, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds and Housing Minister Irfaan Ali jointly flicked the switch to illuminate the tree.
