Charrandass Persaud (back) with his attorney Sanjeev Datadin at the CCJ in Trinidad and Tobago.

Charrandass Persaud, the man who voted against his own Government and caused its collapse on December 21, is attending today’s sitting of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), which is hearing from all parties on what consequential orders should be made after it ruled that the No Confidence motion was properly passed.

It is the first time that Persaud has returned to the Caribbean after he fled to Canada hours after he voted to remove the Coalition government from power. He was labelled a Judas, someone who betrayed his Government, and a usurper.

Wasn't the government talking recently of how they can't get the Canadian government to extradite Charrandas to Guyana to answer to the stupid charges that Williams alleged? Ramjattan said that the government didn't have strong enough evidence to convince Canada that Charrandas committed a crime. Given that Charrandas was walking around freely in Trinidad, it seems like the government doesn't have enough evidence to convince the Trinidad to assist them either in arresting Charrandas.

Charandass showed up in court smiling from ear to ear.  Meanwhile, Basil Williams hiding under his bed in Guyana.  When he attempted to speak Justice Saunders said, β€œWe cannot hear you.”  I suspect Guyana had blackout and his internet connection was dying.  So court was adjourned for a few minutes so Basil can fix up his thing.
