Our democracy will be tested at the polls this year and in 2020. Would the PNC control their goons and allow the Guyana Election Commission to operate independently? That is yet to be seen.

It would also be a good idea for the PPP to introduce their next leader. I would prefer to see a Young and Charismatic leader who can appeal to the mixed voters.

Jagdeo can still work his magic with the base but the young leader should be chosen or least be introduced as a platform of renewing the party.

Rohee should also consider paving the way for a New General Secretary of the PPP.

Rammo should be nowhere this Local Election campaign. He will be seen as a loser.

The AFC/PNC coalition appears weak and the PPP has a golden opportunity at the upcoming Local Elections.

The million dollar question is about the independence of the Election Commission ?

It is a cause for concern. The role of the AFC was to create balance but it would appear that they are in a state of imbalance themselves.

Where are the executives of the AFC ?

Remember, it is only eight months and they appear to have lost all powers in the decision making process.

Are we seeing history repeating itself ?

Will the AFC become the next United Force ?

Yuji22,

AFC leaders who brought in the Berbician votes are the ones now doing everything possible to defend the gov't. One would not expect them to lash out at the PNC at this time since it would be a voluntary indictment of themselves in conniving willingly or naively with a party that has long history of undemocratic practices. The country was devastated in the period following independence by the Peoples National Congress who captured power with the help of the UF. We draw parallels with the PNC/UF Coalition and the present day APNU/AFC coalition. The emergence of dictatorship in Guyana in 1964 started with a coalition. The people who are old enough or informed enough to know about this dark period and the ones most concerned about a re-emergence of the past. We cannot blame them since the memories are with them and the behavior and moves of the Granger gov't. seem all hell-bent of consolidating power and hold on to it by rigging general and local elections.

DAT ROTTEN DAAG OF A HOUSE SLAVE DONT CARE RAT'S ASS ABOUT THE GOVT BEING A DICTATORSHIP AS LONG AS HE HAS THE TITLE "HOUSE SLAVE AND PRIME MINISTER"!!!!!!!!!!!

Christopher Ram is concerned about treatment of Kurshid Sattaur

Even Chris Ram, is now speaking out against the disgraceful AFC/PNC administration.

Well, that's a far cry from the cunumus who cuss out Indians pre May, now checking in and, though disappointed at PNC racism and no job for themselves, still feel cussing out Indians is the way to salvation!  At least the man Ram has a moral compass!
