Manniram Prashad...in 1994 was the emissary for a group of fledgling money launderers of whom I had prepared and submitted files to Minister of Finance Asgar Ally. He lobbied Asgar Ally for my dismissal. Soon after the PPP made him a Minister and after some years he bought the Palm Court for USD2.5M cash..then spent a further USD3M cash demolishing the Palm Court building and constructing a 5 storey complex. Today he is trying to weasel his way into the new coalition government...maybe thinking he can fill some more suitcases with US dollars.

Wishful thinking. However I do wonder at times how large this tent is that Mr. Granger is building. Are all these PPP antimen, kwameites, old communist guard and teefmen going to be allowed in  under some guise of "unity"? I'm sure the people in Guyana are sick of these people and do not want to see them recycled into a new governing party to continue their teefing ways.

Brian Tiwari is a businessman why should he go to jail for failing to deliver on contracts?

That is the job of the government of the day to ensure he delivers not the other way around.

And it begins.

The AFC's rush to embrace criminals as they themselves seek to become the new Brian Tiwaris and the new rice tycoons of Guyana

The era of corruption is over. Let a whole new era of corruption begin

Agreed and until other contractors get into the fray the govt will have to use his company and their services.

But over time it is in the government's interest to get other contractors in the game.

Remember under past PNC governments they brought in a lot of foreign firms to do work and they also built a lot of local capacity in these construction firms. The PPP wiped all of that out.

The rules of engagement when dealing with the contractors will have to change. There is no harm in working with contractors from the PPP era once they follow the proper bidding procedures and deliver the work on time and properly completed according to the requirements.
