I hear you my Brudda. This race baiting is tantamount to Race hate which is a crime here. Many in Guyana are afraid to speak out against the corruption. They fear the wrath of the PPP/C. They can be very vicious.

Funny thing is Cuffy actually fought for a free Guyana. Leaves one to wonder how someone can want freedom but despise those who fought for it. Maybe Jagdeo's statue should be erected there, bent over in front of Cuffy

Cuffy was a great warrior in his time to lead a rebellion against the slave masters in the seventeen century, and he earn his place in the revolution square. Cuffy is not a popular figure among Indians in Guyana because it never mention anywhere in history whether his followers were Indians.

Indians went to Guyana in the eighteen century, and that was long after the Cuffy revolution. However, the sculpture did an injustice to Cuffy's statue. When I was a child, I used to be scared to look at Cuffy statue because it is not human like. It looked more like a giant voodoo doll made out of cement, but that was then. Today, I don't feel the same because I am no longer a child who is afraid of the boogie man.         

I don't expect Afro-Guyanese to pay homage to Gandhi, as well I don't expect Indians to do the same to Cuffy. What these men leave behind is a chapter in history that shape the world in which we live in today, and for that, we must respect them for their bravery and sacrifice.

* At least you can spell the people's hero's name correctly.

Well, I admit that I haven't utter that name in ages which coincide with my story on Fuffy/Cuffy.
