On May 11, 2015, the Guyanese electorate decisively voted the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) out of government and granted the mandate to govern Guyana to the A Partnership for National Unity and the Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) Coalition. The immutable right of the franchise was exercised to condemn the 23 year-old dinosaur and brutal ethnocracy into the dustbin of history.

The dinosaurs were so astounded at their defeat and shattered faÇade of invincibility, that they confused themselves into pandemonium. Initially, on May 12, PPP presidential candidate Donald Ramotar and their former President, Bharrat Jagdeo, mendaciously bluffed of victory, but shrank into wind-balls when challenged to produce such evidence.

On May 14, they tipped their hand. With countenances of dejection, they torpedoed claims of irregularity and posited that vote tabulations were derived from “fraudulent” Statements of Poll (SOPs). Their shenanigans bemused the nation, as their claims of victory a day prior posed an unprecedented paradox.

Their agent provocateur masqueraded on television in an obvious state of lunacy. The intent was to incite mobocracy. However, their only success was giving credence to the ancient proverb: “Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.”

This is the piece of nonsense which I caution coalition supporters about.  How is a victory of 50.3% decisive.

This was another low grade ethnically based civil war where a massive turn out of the African/mixed base, together with a small Indian and Amerindian cross over vote BARELY outnumbered the PPPs overwhelming Indian and Amerindian support.

People should not let their personal happiness that the PPP regime has come to an end cloud them of these facts.

Remind Burke that the PPP got 49+% of votes and he should not get triumphalist.

Did the PPP ever galvanize the population to clean up as Granger did.

And yes Burke is dangerously looking like a triumphalist, much as did many Indians under PPP rule.  But of course you will deny that ethnic triumphalism by Indians occurred between 1992 and 2015.

Burke is the kettle who is calling the pot black.  Burke is not a saint.  He supported crimes under the PNC.  He has no credibility to throw stones.

however, we all want the system cleaned up and that includes the PNC.

What the Coalition needs to watch out for are those with OLD PNC mentalities who think it's time for exchange not change, that blacks should replace Indians in the top supervisory positions (people such as Carib, Hinds, Burke, etc.), black triumphalists -v- we need to build a just and fair society for all within a context of sensitivity to diversity.

Using your criteria there aren't any blacks who you will like because NONE of us who weren't PPP soup lickers are going to agree with you when you claim that only the PNC was racist and that the PPP was fair and diverse.

I suggest that you research what David Hinds was up to when he was in the WPA and was assaulted and almost killed by Burnham.  You are a fraud of the worse degree.

I am not aware that Granger had a sign saying APNU AFC supporters only.

If PPP supporters wish G/T to remain like a cesspit, while they engage in a rage that their plan to rig the election  didn't work, that is their issue.  But I don't think that ensuring that the largest and most important city in the country becomes habitable was a political issue.
