PPP/C presidential candidate Donald Ramotar is to be the country’s next president, the Guyana Elections Commission announced at around 4.20 pm.

The PPP/C has secured 32 seats, A Partnership for National Unity 26 seats and the Alliance For Change, seven seats.

For the second election in a row, the PPP/C lost substantial support in terms of the numbers of voters who turned out.

PPP/C not controlling Parliament means that it will need one of the opposition groups to support its measures in Parliament.

It will also be vulnerable to a motion of no confidence which if successfully passed would unseat the government and fresh elections would have to be called.

THIS IS A GOOD OPTION FOR GUYANA TO BE INCLUSIVE. ONE WINNER DOES NOT TAKE ALL.

The PPP should have been given both seats in Region one. They were robbed.

Dude ... aren't you suprised that the PPP got such big numbers in region 4 ... I smell a rat ... but it's all over.

We finally have a minority gov't.

You must admit the PPP and GECOM were working real hard for 3 days to get one more seat.

Indians ae 36% of region 4. In fact MORE Indians live there than any where else.

The results are satisfactory and I am glad good sense prevailed.

This way all the parties come together to run a country.
There are no Indo and Black parties, we are all Guyanese.
