I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Surinamese Authority in their final tabulation of their recent elections. I would only hope that neighboring Guyana take a page from Suriname. It is time the Guyana Election Commission (Gecom) get its act together and be more efficient in voters tabulation. For too long Guyanese are waiting for the final outcome of the March 2nd general and regional elections. It is now time to put this issue to rest. Swear in the new government and let get on with the process of nation building.

That's what the Surinamese call them. I have heard that many times. I also heard the Jukkas from French Guiana.
Any one know Suriname Parliamentary System ,and how the President is nominated?
President of Suriname is elected by two thirds or more of the elected Members of Parliament.
Suriname Parliamentary System == Unicameral System

Thanks ,so the President can be voted out before the term of office ends.
Yes Django; Suriname parliament has the authority to approve a president or remove one from office.

Seems like a democratic system ,Guyana should adopt, the power grabbing may weaken.
Will read up on the parliamentary system later.
Indeed Django, lots of changes are needed for Guyana's constitution.

Who is willing to make the changes, when a government seems to benefit from it and not coordinated to do it through collaboration.
Well it is well established that Moses Nagamootoo's prime responsibilities in 2015 was to make the needed changes to the constitution.
To date 2020, as clearly noted, nothing of significance was done by him.
Congratulations to the people of Suriname and Mr. Chandrica Parsad Santokhi on winning the Presidency of his country.
Santokhi, 61, is a former police commissioner and former minister of justice and police and he oversaw the start of a long legal process that led to Bouterse murder conviction last year for the deaths of 15 people who opposed the military regime he led from 1980 to 1987. He returned to power in democratic elections in 2010.
While the court sentenced Bouterse â now 74 â to 20 years in prison, it did not order his arrest and he is appealing the verdict. As president of the country, Mr. Bouterse enjoyed immunity, which will disappear when he leaves office. Bouterse also has been convicted in absentia in the Netherlands of drug trafficking.
Guyana President elect Irfaan Ali and Mr. Santokhi will make great partners In the years ahead as the two countries seek to work together for mutual development.

Everyday at PM Nagamootoo's office people lined up to get assistance for various things. Who are you to say that nothing of significance was done by him?
