New College of Florida Promotes Faculty

April 2, 2012 â The New College Board of Trustees recently approved promotion and tenure for two New College faculty members, Tarron Khemraj to associate professor of economics and Necmettin Yildirim to associate professor of mathematics. New College also announces the promotion of three veteran faculty members to full professor: Barbara Hicks to professor of political science, John Newman to professor of religion and Amy Reid to professor of French language & literature. The promotions are effective on August 7, 2012.
Dr. Tarron Khemraj is an applied macro-economist whose research focuses on problems in monetary economics, financial economics and open economy macroeconomics. He also studies the political economy of development and underdevelopment. His primary teaching interests are economic development, econometrics, international economics and contemporary political economy. He joined the New College faculty in 2007 and holds the William G. Selby and Marie Selby Endowed Chair in Economics. He also serves as a research associate at the Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance, University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago.
