Contract signed with Dutch company for feasibility study and design of new Demerara River bridge
During the signing of the contract, Minister within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Annette Ferguson, on behalf of the Ministry and the Government of Guyana, thanked the company for its interest in the project and for the experience and knowledge it will undoubtedly bring.
Plans are moving apace for a new Demerara river bridge to be built. The Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation this morning signed a contract with Dutch company LievenseCSO.
The contract covers the production of a Feasibility Study and the Design for the new Demerara River Crossing.
During the signing of the contract, Minister within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Annette Ferguson, on behalf of the Ministry and the Government of Guyana, thanked the company for its interest in the project and for the experience and knowledge it will undoubtedly bring.
Demerara Harbour Bridge General Manager, Rawlston Adams, expressed similar sentiments.
The Advisor to the CEO of the Dutch company, Arie Mol, thanked Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation for the opportunity.
He said that he looks forward to working with DHBC and also assured that his company will ensure that all schedules are met and completed on time.
The feasibility study will commence on January 15, 2017. The new bridge is expected to be a fixed high span bridge, which will allow for ships to traverse the waterway, without affecting traffic on the bridge.
