Police believe that they have smashed a gang of robbers that has been targeting businessmen, particularly after they have visited commercial banks.

Nabbed! The captured suspects.

Police identified the suspects as Afzal Khan, of Lot 154 La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara and Belle West , West Bank Demerara; Rondel Seon Douglas called ‘Uncle’  of Lot 45 Palm Street, Werk-en-Rust, and Lot 1360 Diamond East Bank Demerara; and Parmanand Rampersaud, of Diamond Housing Scheme.Khan and Douglas are known ‘truckers’.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum disclosed that police have CCTV footage of the same men breaking into a car in Alberttown some three weeks ago, and making off with cash and a firearm.

 

Nice work by the police. How is it those guys seem to be chillin'?

I will make a post for the Brown baie/gurl PPP clan dem, so they doan have to make themselves look like bombarasses.

The black guy is a bad tiefman, the other two are only doing what they suppose to do when dem family hungry.

Don't know if this charge will stand up in court.  But notable is that all 3 seem to be pnc/afc supporters. They see increased opportunities under this govt as Granger will free them via amnesty if they are caught.

This is a new strategy for criminals to follow business people after their withdrawal from bank to kill and robbed them of their hard earned money. Celebration time is getting close. It's obvious that high profile information is leaking to the criminal to share the loot.

Ranjattan said there is no quick fix to escalating crime. Now he realize after wasting one year in office. It mean the crime will remain with them throughout their tenor in office.

Cain, what a burden to bear, having to defend an incompetent govt. I don't cheer as I have family in Guyana who are business people and handle large amounts of cash.   The police are only present after the fact.

It's far safer to go and have a beer in Buxton, than it is in Berbice.

But look at this case. It mimics that of the murder of Sawh. Indian bosses and hired black hand. It's very rare to catch the capo of these gang. And it does raise the question as to how many more of these gangs are run by now unemployed PPP stooges. I have been pointing out for months now that the increase in crime must be connected to unemployed PPP insiders who once enjoyed a lavish lifestyle at the expense of the regions such as Linden. They just don't know how to make a honest buck now they have to do real work.

Why would they have dangerous criminals in the back of a pick-up alone without handcuffs or chains to restrict their movements???    Something is fishy here

Well, the KN and SN were never PPP controlled and they did an excellent job on publishing everything that goes against the PPP/C gov't. including crime in Berbice.  According these daily newspapers the crime situation in the ancient has gone from bad to worse in the last year.

This is no laughing matter when so many of our people are murdered during robberies. The emotional pain on the victims' family and loved ones is unbearable and heartwrenching.
