Cops probing death of 75-year-old Gecom guard at Port Kaituma

The police today said that they are investigating the suspected murder of Earl Peters, age 75 years, a security guard  attached to the Guyana Elections Commission (Gecom)  Office, Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD)  which occurred at Train Line, Port Kaituma, NWD yesterday.

Enquiries revealed, police say,  that yesterday at about 10:25 pm, a businessman who resides at Train Line, Port Kaituma said that he heard someone shouting for help. He immediately went outside to investigate and observed a male, whom he recognized to be Peters, lying on the ground soaked with what appeared to be blood. He then ran  to the Port Kaituma Police Station and  made a report.

At about 10.35 pm, a party of policemen visited the scene  and observed the victim lying on his back on the ground in an unconscious state and soaked with what appeared to be blood from injuries to his abdomen, the left side of his head and left wrist.

It sees unusual that the police will be contacted first in a medical  emergency.

But understandable, when a friend died at Port Mourant, before uncontrollable thrashing around.  The single person with him was afraid to take him down the stairs to the doctor at night, 'cause he felt if he is injured  in the process, he might be accused of the death. So the person was left to die.

75 year old doing watch man work? That's why no work for young people.

In GY, I sometimes stay at friends house with a night guard.  He is a guy about 65 with a shotgun, who has a sleeping area and he walk with his own pillow.  I stay at others in the country side, who nail pieces of small strips of wood on windows for security.

Jus like the virus protection problem, GY don't have leaders to tell people how to protect themselves, so everyone guess and do their own thing.
